American exchange student seeking host family in Switzerland

Hello,

My daughter, age 15, has been accepted as an exchange student for the next school year to Switzerland by AFS Intercultural Program.  We are looking for a host family for her in Switzerland.  It is somewhat late in the application process, so we're reaching out to help AFS find a family.  She is a wonderful, easy going, helpful kid and an excellent student. She is thrilled to be going to Switzerland.  Her brother* is a physicist at CERN.  We live in Sharon, Massachusetts, USA.  We are a nonreligious jewish family and share the values and principles of the Unitarians.

If you know of anyone in Switzerland that would be interested in hosting her, please have them email the AFS coordinator, Pat Zlotin, at [email protected].

Thank you,

Dan Hooberman

Hi Oscar,

Thanks very much for your interest!

She isn't picky, and will consider living anywhere in Switzerland. She would prefer to live in a city, if possible.

Thanks again,

Ben

Hi Oscar,

The exchange program is called AFS: http://www.afs.ch/

My sister is in high school. Basically, the idea is that the student lives with a host family in a foreign country, attending the local school. So, to answer your question, she does not need to live in any particular place or near any particular school.

I'm sure my sister would be very happy to stay with you and your family. The dates would be August 2011 until the end of the following school year.

Thank you for your consideration,

Ben
