Compensation for cancelled/delayed flights

Did you know that you have the right to receive compensation for a cancelled/delayed flight in addition to a free alternative flight?


After a six months battle with Easyjet, I finally received compensation for a flight cancelled on very short notice. For a period of 6 months I didn't get any reply, but when I stated a certain EU regulation, I received compensation within 2 days! Laughing So I want to share this with you.


The magic words are: "European Regulation No. 261/2004" on compensation and assistance in  the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delays (2h for <1500 km, 3h for >1500km) of flights.
There are also conditions for cancellations.

Thank you for the info.


This happened with Easyjet for me just over a year ago.


The earliest morning flight just was cancelled last minute with a rather unconvincing excuse that we were however unable to refute.


Apparently according to another passenger on the flight this happens with Easyjet. He had in the month previously had it happen another time also..!


I was lucky insomuch as where I was going were able to exceptionally move my appointment for 5 hours later,but it made the day difficult and stressful, too long in one way, too short in another..


I've been put off taking early flights from them since.
