How to contest a transport fine in Geneva

After an accident with the local bus in Grand Saconnes in January, and the driver wasnt even aware of hitting my car and carrying on driving, I just received a letter from the police posted on 01 of april with very few words and a massive 1740 ChF fine for apparently Dispositions Legales

Art.26-36-90 LCR Art.15 OCR.

Now knowing that I ain't a bloody lawyer to understand the articles, and having only a 10 day deadline to contest the decision, which expires today( how convinient to send the letter during the easter holiday), can someone advise me on how to go about this problem a.s.a.p

Thanks in advance

Hi

I might be wrong here but normally those 10 days are counted from the day you receive the letter. So for me you have 10 days starting from today.

At least it is like that in my country - not sure how it is in Switzerland.

Hey, no experience with this but I looked up the relevant law codes, at least. Perhaps you can see what they are accusing you of.

LCR: Loi fédérale sur la circulation routière

https://www.admin.ch/opc/fr/classified-compilation/19580266/201307010000/741.01.pdf

Article 26 is just about behaving well, Article 36 is about priority to the right, and Article 90 is about the fact that you can be punished if you break the rules.

OCR: Ordonnance sur les règles de la circulation routière

https://www.admin.ch/opc/fr/classified-compilation/19620246/201604010000/741.11.pdf

Article 15 is about pulling out into traffic in special cases.

In terms of what to do, I guess you need to see a lawyer. Do you have protection juridique? TCS offers one that looks like it would cover you in this situation: https://www.tcs.ch/fr/produits/protection-juridique/protection-juridique-circulation.php
