Ideas of on-line language learning methods?

I'm looking for good on-line language learning methods, which I can download for use when travelling etc. Any ideas or personal experience welcome. Thanks.

The internet has a VAST amount of resources some free, some pay for some illegal

If its Fench you are looking for try French In Action series - 52 episodes of about 25-30 minutes

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfAjOIwmdv-LY05FN9s9WTNvLj0uvi_Y-

also use Cliffs Notes for applying Grammar

and to apply it to the real world either get a language exchange partner to meet face to face in real life OR Skype

Thanks all - I've tried LingQ, but never really got into the style of learning there. Several people have mentioned duolingo, so I'll check them out.

Babbel also seems to have a lot of publicity, so they are clearly a market leader of some kind.

I've used Assimil before and really liked that. I guess different sources just have different syles.

I was also wondering if people could give me a little more background on their own experience - did they like the style, is it easy to follow the structure of learning, are the materials easy to access, was there easy feedback, was the grammar well explained, were there ideas of every day resources to access etc?

Open to lots of feedback, if anyone has been working their way throught other methods.

And definitely like the advice to just jump in and practice - it's true that it can be hard to get started, but my experience has been that people appreciate the effort as a early learner and generally (not always) are very patient as I stumble through my first sentences.

I signed up for Captain Langauge for learning German and have found it to be very good. My only gripe being that it logs me out on a regular basis.

I still use LingQ for French but only to improve my reading and writing, rather than for speaking.
