NYC Apartments....help!
Since I know you all are so well connected I thought I'd throw out a question to all you Glocals. I used to live in Geneva and I'm moving to NYC and desperately need an apartment. I've done all the regular searches (sublet.com, craigslits, roommatefinder) and am finding it VERY difficult to find something good. If anyone knows of someone leaving an apartment or subletting an apartment in NYC i would be forever grateful and the next time I'm in Geneva I will gladly buy you a drink or two! Thanks!

Hi Nancy,
Unforunately you're not going to find an apt in the heart of the city unless you've got a healthy budget or willing to take on a tiny hole in the wall that has not been renovated.
I would suggest you look into neighboring towns like Hoboken, Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights area. I live in Hoboken so I can say for sure you can find larger, nicer, newer flats 1 bedrooms at nearly half the price, and it's so close to the city; avg age of the 1 sq mile historic town is 35 and more single people that live there, and much more affordable. Plus you don't have all that police sirens, ambulances, fire trucks and car sirens rining all day and night.

Good luck, and if you're there by Christmas, maybe we can meet up as i'll be home for christmas.

Craigslist is full of a bunch of realtors wanting exorbant broker fees, as mentioned I've already tried the regular methods of searching for apartments that most people would recommend. Was hoping someone might have more creative ideas I haven't tried or know someone leaving an already occupied apartment. Thanks for your suggestion, in any case.
