hi all,
I am planning my holidays at the moment and was looking for the best / most well known travel agencies in Switzerland...can anyone give me short list of names / websites to check?
Thanks a lot

Add Tui (in Globus, rue du rhone, Geneva), ask for Rachel (one of my friend)

Rather than visit websites, heck out the smaller agencies in and around rue de Chantepoulet. and rue de Mont-blanc near the railway station, ditto rue de Lausanne. These places are often cheaper and friendlier than the bigger boys. ‘Nouvelles frontières’ is at No. 10 rue de Chantepoulet. Also check STA travel, which is very good for adventure trips, though not the cheapest. They have an outlet in rue de la Croix-d’Or.
Also, if you’ve already decided on the country, check if it has a tourist office in Geneva. They’re great places for free brochures.
Be sure to read the cancellation conditions, especially if you’re offered a discount for a cash payment. You may not be able to claim anything if the holiday is cancelled or the programme’s amended. Generally speaking, you get better protection when you pay with a credit card.
And if you don’t have travel insurance, don’t buy it from a travel agency. Instead, contact Touring Club Suisse which offers good coverage for a fair price. You don’t have to be a motorist or own a vehicle. They have a special section for pedestrians (like me) and you can have coverage for Europe and North Africa or, for a higher premium, qorldwide coverage. I have the former on an nnual basis and top up with short-erm coverage when I travel further afield.
Happy landings. Ritchie
