Weekend trips in Switzerland for the next several weeks

Hello Glocals members!

I am new to Geneva and will be here until the end of July, so I woud like to make the most of my stay here and take as many exciting trips over the next several weekends as possible. Anyone who is interested in sharing a rental car or taking a train , please drop me a note. Some ideas are Zurich, castles, museums, UN, Swiss Vapeur Parc, etc.

Hello Tate,

The most exciting places to visit are:

1 - Swiss Riviera direction (from Geneva to Nyon, Lausanne and Montreux)

2- Valais direction for mountains (Verbier and Zermatt)

3 - Bern, Lucern and Interlaken (also Yung frau mountains if you wish)

4 - Zurich and Basel

5 - Lugano and Lucarno (Italian part)

I travel all weekends by train and am ready to join you. We can even rent a car and share the cost (we need to be 4-5 people).

Cheers

Josef

Hi Josef,

Thank you for the list and suggestions -- it seems that we need more people in order to rent a car. I'll keep you posted!

I can drive to Basel (and Zurich) - haven't been there yet. I'd be keen on going to Zermatt for a weekend of skiing in the summer on the glacier.

Hello Tate,

Why don't you join the following vegetarian Picnic in the lake side? Find the details in "Things to do" on Sunday June 27th with the following title :

Picnic in Parc de la Perle-du-Lac (Pâquis side)

You will meet more people and find more friends for travelling.

Cheers

Hey Tate,

I am leaving Switzerland at the end of July as well and wanted to see as much of Switzerland before I leave :-). Some of the very good tourist places on the top of my "to visit" list are Interlaken, Lucern, Grindelwald & Zurich. From the places I have seen so far, I would highly recommend Zermatt & Montreux :-). Let me know if you have any plans to see any places on my "to visit" list (or any other cool places you can think of) and I would love to join you! :)

Cheers!

Hi Tate,

I'd be interested to join the Zermatt weekend tour, for sightseeing (not skiing). Probably it's the best to go there by train since there is no access to the village by car.

Keep me posted, A Smile

If you like castles, the Bellinzona jousting festival on July 25th is a scream. However, from Geneva it's very tricky to get to Bellinzona. Nevertheless, if it's sunny and if they manage to repeat last year's event, it's worth the trip!

check out railaway, on line or pick a leflet up from the station they have some good ideas and deals, europaparkexpress is a coach that takes you to the theme park out in germany for the day and myswitzerland.com might also give you some ideas of things to see and do.

If you fancy some summer snow, mount titlis, going down the glacier on rubber tubes, and the rotating gondala might be fun!

Hi all,

We can organize a trip to Lausanne and Montreux next Sunday (July the 4th). I can rent a car and we could share the cost. If we are up to 5 people then we need a small car if more then a bigger car for 6-7 people. I am also interested by train as I am in possession of a "demi tarif abonnement". Send me your suggestions as soon as possible.

Hi,

I received no answer / suggestion to my last proposition to hire a car / van for travelling within Switzerland. Another idea could be travelling by train. However, it is better to be several people for this activity.

Cheers

Hi Anna,

Great, so we're...2:-) I haven't been becouse going alon is not fun and I guess nobody seems to be caught by the idea of summer-skiing. Now I won't have time till mid-september but I'm not sure are the conditions better or worst in autumn.

Take care,
