Hello all! Headed to Lyon this weekend from Genvea, and would like to stop somewhere on the way - anything interesting (cute village, interesting park etc)?
Any ideas?
thanks,
Sylvia

Nantua has an interesting museum and is renowned for its crayfish dressing.

if you get lucky on the way you might see the sunshine once in a while along the way.
Are you going via Annecy - Chambery toward Lyon South or via Nantua - Ambronay - Ambéreu to reach Lyon center and North bound.? The latter route is the touristic route and discovery of Bugey region in Department de l'Ain > see http://www.routes-touristiques-ain.com/bugey/decouverte-bugey/presentation-bugey.html. Wander around Nantua along the one-way tiny route that follows the rail road tracks along the lake.
You will then head on and discover Cerdon and its famous sparkling wine, master craftsmen in brass pans and walk through the typical forests.
Good tip is to consider going one way and return the other way.Off the motorway. Stop in Chambesy and browse around the statue of the elephants which always amaze the children. Drive the to Aix les bains continuing on to Annecy.
HAve a great week-end
