Can someone please recommend where to stay in Chicago? After browsing the internet, I am thinking it may be wise to stay around the Loop. I have looked at a few hotels like The Congress Plaza Hotel and Swissotel and the reviews were not too good).

I guess it depends a bit why you are going? Business? Leisure? The Loop is boring/deserted
at night, but is the center of business.
Big names: Intercontinental, Sofitel,
The PeninsulaBoutiques: Park View Hotel, The Monaco, Hotel

Do avoid the Congress - it's dirty and run down, and the
Swissotel is way too big and has bad service as a result.

Thank you. I am going for leisure and would love to have easy access to places of interest as well as shops and the nightlife of course.
