i live in lausanne and a friend is coming over for vacation. We want to do a hike in the mountains for 2 or 3 days and sleep in a hut. Anyone has a suggestion for a nice hiking trip?

End of July should be no problem with the snow. With level (let us say T3) as a general rule of thumb you can get up to any hut up to 2500 metres. The book I mentioned includes the the dirrent routes to the huts indicating the difficulty level but this should also be indicated on the hut website.
If you have set your mind on a particular hut / walk send me an email on [email protected] and I will look at the book and try to answer.

Kandersteg to Leukerbad stayiing at http://www.schwarenbach.ch/ finishing in the thermal baths at Leukerbad
best to ring them to ask about snow conditions. It has snowed quite low down recently, but should be ok in July
