We are outfitting an apartment from scratch, and everything I have seen so far is dreadful.....cold, square, boring, typical Swiss awful furniture. There has got to be some pretty furniture somehwere that does not cost a million francs. Obviously there is Ikea and Interio, which are fine if need be, but I am hoping for something a little more homey....l would kill for a West Elm or Williams Sonoma here.

I like Bogen 33 and sometimes go to brokenhaus and if you're lucky you can find pretty trendy and vinatage furntiture for a reasonable price

It depends on what you mean by pretty furniture. If you want a wide range or choice it is maybe an idea to visit Germany. go to this place http://www.moebelmarkt-dogern.de/ they deliver to Switzerland, and everythign there is duty free. They handle all the paperwork, so all you have to do is order and pay a deposit. The balance is payable on delivery.

Alternatively, there is also something called TROC. Similar to Brocki, only better and much cheaper. You can check their locations via http://www.troc.com/en/
I like their store in Freibourg am Breisgau, and its not too far either!
Not sure how you define "beautiful furniture" but I can highly recommend SEIPP. They are right across the border from Schaffhausen. German prices. They take care of the delivery and montage, and everything and have a superb selection. Their customer service is smashing, and they dont have salespeople but interior designers working to serve you! we just love that place. Visit here: http://www.seipp.com/
Ask for Sabine Sparenberg - she has helped us greatly with our purchases there!! and she speaks english too
