Ways to find an accomodation

Hello,

I'm sure a lot of people posted something relevant. I'm going from Geneva to Zurich in September to start my graduate studies in the ETH Zurich. I've been looking for a room/appartment for the past month. Unfortunately, the majority of people don't even bother reply to my emails/phone calls. Till now, I found nothing.

Is it because I'm trying to contact people in English (I don't speak German/SwissGerman)?

Ideally, I'm looking for a small appartment for me and my friend, but if not, just a room for me.

If anyone has an idea how/where to look... please, your help is much appreciated.

although the idea is a bit morbid, swiss people have told me this is often done! check the obituary pages in the newspaper, for sure the deceased will be freeing up their apartment!!  ( also can be used for job searches, as companies often write a small condolence message for their deceased emplyoyee. gruesome!! )

Although what you've said is completely true, I find the idea weird.

Anyways, thanks for this piece of information :)...
