Dr Ligia Shaw at Plainpalais is one of the best and my favorite doctor. She is specializing in root treatment under microscope. Very professional, very thorough and honest doctor. I am a very picky person concerning doctors and she is the one I completely trust ! I got her name from one of my friends and highly recommend her to everyone.

Avoid at all costs - Just a money making business.

I have now gone to a reputable swiss dentist who advised nearly all the work they said needed doing was unnecessary, including a tooth removal and replacement of all fillings (which were done less than 24 months ago).

On top of that I had a 3 minute consultation which didn't even involve the dentist looking in my mouth, just telling me I needed to see him again at another clinic which ended up costing 82chf.

A dentistry clinic any dentist should be ashamed of.

Having expressed my thoughts below, I have to say I was impressed to be run by Natasha who is the director of these clinics. She wished in particular to explain why they have a VIP service and to reassure me that it in no way impinges upon the quality of the work one receives as a non-VIP. She also invited me to come and look at the system so she could actually show me how it works and why it is there.

She also pointed out to me, which was very reassuring, that the clinics have an extremely rigorous process of accepting new members of staff and so on and so forth. All in all, I would have to say this conversation has made me more confident about Clinique Dentaire. I might also point out that my dentist in Australia and my hygenist here are generally in agreement about my teeth - another vote of confidence, if you like.

But it is true, as we also discussed during our long call together, that dentistry, like all medicine, is as much art as science. You will get two dentists interpreting information and how to proceed differently. At that point, Natasha pointed out, at the Clinic a third dentist will be called upon with a view to sorting out these differences. Okay, the rest of this is what I originally wrote.

The stars are for the hygenist. May I make the general point that this group has a VIP service of some sort and in general my opinion of services that do that is dim. It means the main way of giving some people better service is to give you worse. Doing this on an airline may work, but with something important like your teeth? I don't like the implications.

My experience is of the Acacias clinic. I'm used to the Australian method, which is that a dentist both cleans and checks my teeth at the same time, with a cost of around 150CHF. Here I went first to the hygenist who charged about that and then the dentist separately. The dentist took all of about 3 minutes to look at my teeth and charged more than the hygenist, made me have an x-ray which I don't believe I needed (also very expensive), told me I would need all my fillings replaced, which I don't believe I need to have done.

I have also been able to go to my Australian dentist over the last couple of years and my practice now is to go to the hygenist, a very serious Russian girl who tells me off all the time, but at least seems to be thorough, and go to the dentist in Australia. He does not think I need any fillings replaced.

Having said all that, and sorry this is long, my boyfriend has also been there fully expecting to have to pay lots of thousands to fix an incompetently done English root canal (there is no point to cheap dentistry if it is badly done, is there any need to make that observations?!) In fact the dentist suggested that it could be delayed maybe even long term as long as he manages to avoid infections.

So my conclusions are mixed. I've heard several horror stories about other dentists in Geneva, worse than anything on this site, which is largely about expense rather than incompetence.

Is there anything more traumatic than finding dentists? We need a better method :)

I went to the Meyrin location for a teeth cleaning. It was expensive (~$160) but what do you expect...it's Geneva.

I totally agree with the bad reviews for this clinic, specially with their "money-making" reputation. The "student cost" that they offered me was a fortune. It's cheaper for me to buy the flight tickets to go back home (in another continent), and get decent treatment there.

To all who are disappointed from the dentist "business" in Geneva, I can only recommend "Smile and Care". Two clinics (1 next to Manor in Cornavin and the other one avenue Krieg). Multilingual staff, ultra professional, you are informed of everything at each and every step. Amazing service and reasonnable price. The whole family gets treated there. They don't have an ad here but they should...

If this could be a no star review it would. They stated my daughters needed 1200 CHF worth of work EACH and luckily my dentist in NY gave me a second opinion on our trip home. Clinique Dentaire stated they had 8 cavities each that needed to be filled. My NY dentist said they did not have 8 cavities each. Clinique Dentaire contacted me AT HOME after reading my initial review, to clarify that the dentist said the 8 spots noted in each mouth could develop into cavities....you make your own assessment, they could develop into 8 cavities each, the work would have cost me near 2,500 CHF for both children...a high price for something that may not be needed.

Thank you Glocal members for warning the community. Good and honest dentistry is hard to find, but an absolute necessity!
Clinique Dentaire de Genève

CDGe team regrets to see so many negative comments on Glocal’s, which could reflect a misunderstanding of our internal procedures.

I needed to get a general check up as soon as possible before year end and was accomodated with change of apppointment days and times a few times.

Upon getting to the reception, I was asked to fill in a general form and was asked for my ID, the hygienist that attended to me was a Russian lady, she was nice and was asked if I prefer to converse in French or English.
Her English was good and I was diagnosed with gingivitis. She started off by a short demo on how to properly floss and brush my teeth.
The process was gruesome to me, blood everywhere, my fault.
When were almost done, she asked if I would like an x-ray to see if there are further problems that she may not be able to see and x-ray would help.
I said ok, and then she told me it would be at an additional cost of CHF40.-
It was just a small thing that I bite into and it was over in a few seconds.
She left me for a few minutes and came back telling me that all is fine.
No further complications.

The cleaning treatment was done in an hour or so, I am generally happy with the treatment, it all came down to about CHF183.- in total no medications required.
Oh and she gave me a small bottle of mouth rinse.

Will possibly go back to them but will decline any “extras” that they will offer/push in future.

Very mysterious opposing set of reviews for this place. I fall squarely into the camp of unsatisfied customers. I was really annoyed at how much 'extras' kept getting pushed at me. I went in for one simple problem and was put under a lot of pressure to book appointments for stuff i didn't want. ended up going to another dentist who did her job and sent me home smiling, no stress, no sales pitch.

I used CDGe for my kid (5 yo) and for me (old in year but yound at heart). Both times had a great experience with the dentist, the booking process, and the payment (which was clear from the start).

I used the Nations location.

I visited their Terrassière location for an emergency treatment as my dentist was on holidays; I was in a lot of pain and panicked.

Dr Gherras spent time with me and was very understanding, compassionate and caring; a real professional. She made me feel comfortable and explained what the treatment will be and why she is doing it, indicating on the x-rays the areas to be treated.

Since then, I became a regular patient

As a working mom of three young children I find the openings hours extremely convenient. The stuff is courteous and very helpful. I know that they answer for any short notice appointment and provide a Quality care. I don’t mind paying my dental treatments up front, when it’s for keeping my teeth healthy and pain-free.

My hat off to them a very caring team!

My review appears to have been deleted. I wrote that it is totally money making. The dentist I saw said I needed 'several' fillings' after I had a routine yearly appointment and when I asked her how many was 'several' she looked evasive and said 'about 7 or 8' ! First of all I only ever have had the minimum of one if that per year and secondly why was her answer '7 OR 8'! Surely she should have known by examining each tooth! I wasn't impressed at all and went for a second opinion. I was told I needed ONE. I rest my case.

I was originally recommended the clinique, and especially Dr Sitbon by my pediatrician. So I took my kids there as the pediatrician suspected decays. I was so happy to have taken my 5yold there. Dr sitbon was fun and enthousiatic, she treated my 5 yold with great care and made this first treatment expérience great. So when a few weeks later I broke my tooth, I did not think twice before calling them. The réceptionnist found me an emergency appointment on the day. Again the treatment was well explained (in a perfect english) and nicely done. The dentist gave me 2 estimates as she was not sure wether the nerve was exposed, i ended up paying the cheapest one (and believe me it was ways cheaper). She then I was advised about some possible pains if the nerve reacted f badly, but it did not happen.

I really found my Geneva dentist now.. I would really recommended her and would not go any where else for anything in the world!!!

I have been with my kids a patient in this clinique for the last 5 years. I am a faithful client because of the quality of their services and the way they treat their clients. I know my kids go to the kids clinic with a smile on their face as they know they will be met with nice doctors who explain long to them any procedure before getting into it. Just recently I had my tooth fixed by Dr. Ameur and not only did he excel in treating me, he also accompanied me to the laboratory to make sure that the color of the filling corresponds to the color of my tooth as at the lab they are not allowed to manipulate patient's teeth. I am never surprised by the fees as they always stick to the estimate they give me at the beginning of my sessions. I highly recommend this clinic.

Very surprised of all these negative reviews.....
I went to Nation's Branch and I was really satisfied by the treatment provided by Dr Péchier.
Actually my previous dentist did not give me any option and was going to remove my tooth.
Dr Péchier saved the tooth and the cost was fair.
I was informed beforehand about their payment policy, at the time of booking my appointment.
A global plan was made in order to have an overview of my dental status. This may be helpful and nobody pushed me to do the treatments advised.
A very caring and professional team that I recommend.

Can only echo all the reviews and strongly warn people about this business. I have a few colleagues who went there, and they told all of us the same story about our teeth and had the same "global plan" for all of us. The cost of this plan would have been astronomical. I went to a different dentist who shook his head about this nonsense and treated me in a quick and good manner, costing only a fraction and being a lot less intrusive than the other.

Beware of this Clinique. Why do you think they are the only ones (I know of) that charge you on the spot?

Dec 4, 2012 by Sajade
I went to them some time ago and had an appointment with a dental hygienist. At the end of the 1 hour session they insisted I pay on the spot, even though no one had informed me in advance that payment is required on the same day. I never went to them again.

absolutely agreed with all your guys comments, i should check the review here before going there. Its so expensive and the receptionist not friendly at all and she doesnt speak english, not sure doesnt know how to speak or doesnt want to speak. As i ask her question in english, she can answer me in french, so i think she understand english. The real problem here is , i just did cleaning for 1 tooth and the doctor num my gum, but it took me 7 hours to disappear the num and after that i have pain in my nose for almost a week, i really dont know what kind of treat me is that.I would like to put no star here actually but glocal request to put a least a star before submit the review.

should have read about them here before going to the terrassiere clinic.. was not treated correctly and had to re-do an expensive treatment again. And people are right - they try to cross-sell other treatments without even a proper diagnose of the current situation.. Must avoid.. there are far better dentists in Geneva than these guys..

Can only reinforce my fellow reviewers here:
Stay away from clinique dentaire de geneve!
I went to the terrassiere "chain store" for nothing overly complex that should have been taken care of in two sessions I had to go five times and the quality was total crap - had to be redone one year later!! One word: incompetent.
Also, a very disrespectful boss of the dentist-woman that treated me, who was absolutely unwilling to write a simple letter that my insurance needed and made a big fuss etc. - very rude. Also the staff was rather unfriendly. They are on the cheaper side in GVA I'd say - but only what it seems at first. Definitely *to be avoided*.

So they are back here on Glocals with a negative review! They also are at Rue de la Gabelle in Acacias and on Avenue de France.
Our experience was disastrous, but glocals deleted the negative reviews, ours and others.
We complained to the dentists' association in Geneva and the Clinique Dentaire disappeared from glocals. Hopefully, this negative review will now remain.

Very money-oriented. When a dearly-paid treatment followed did not obtain the desired results, they proposed another one which they eventually admitted was ineffective too. Tried also to sell me a (unrelated and presumably very expensive) dental care. Their professionalism made me think of encyclopaedia-sellers or telemarketers rather than medics.
