Definitely one of my favourite Mexican joints in Basel. Specifically I love the black bean soup they have, and overall a pleasant experience. I have taken some of my work colleagues for Friday lunch here and they have similar feedback on this restaurant as well.

This is the best Mexican food I've found so far in Europe. I grew up near Mexico and have eaten a lot of good authentic Mexican food in the States. The woman who owns La Fonda is Mexican American and she and her husband make the food as close to authentic as they can using fresh ingredients that they get locally. We live near Geneva where there are three horrible "Mexican" restaurants and often drive to Basel just to get our Mexican food fix!

"Of the two mexican restaurants this is the simpler one. I am not too sure about the authenticity, but I like the food. I would not bring a first date to this restaurant, but I like to take lunch here. Reservation is recommended, especially in the evening."
