The idea of the short evening hikes is to take public transportation early in the evening to a nice place in the countryside surrounding Basel, do a rather short walk/hike while enjoying the sights and get on the way back to Basel before darkness sets in.

This itinerary will start in Muttenz to reach the castle ruins of Wartenberg, and proceeds via Neu Schauenburg to end up in Frenkendorf . The length is 9 km, vertical gradient 360 m, walking duration 2h30.

Participation: It is mandatory to sign up to participate.

Meeting point: Muttenz tram stop "Rothausstrasse" at 18:41. You can reach this location on time by taking tram number 14 at 18:22 at Barfüsserplatz. Alternatively you can take this same tram earlier (Marktplatz, Schifflände, etc.) or later (Bankverein, Aeschenplatz, etc.). This tram DOES NOT stop at Basel SBB!

Tickets: You do not need any transportation ticket if you have the TNW pass. Otherwise, from Basel you need a 1-zone ticket to reach Muttenz "Rothausstrasse".

Return: By train from Frenkendorf-Füllinsdorf to Basel (3 zones). Back in Basel at 22:00 or 22:30.

To bring:
- hiking boots or other suitable shoes
- picnic dinner (unless you prefer eating before/after the activity) - there will be a 20 min break for this purpose.
- water
- warm clothes if you think you will need them
- flashlight optional (normally we would not need it...)
