Inaugural walk: The Poya bridge in Fribourg
Saturday, October 11th, 2014 @ 12:00
At the train station in Fribourg, not at all in, Bern
The inauguration and ribbon cutting of the Poya bridge in Fribourg will be on Friday, October 10. However, on Saturday, Oct. 11, there will be a party for the entire population. We will be able to discover the bridge and underground structures during an open house event.
We will see the work in its entirety, from the roundabout to the underground tunnel, through the tunnel and, of course, the bridge. The entire course will be entirely made by foot, and there will be several animations along the way.
The opening to traffic will take place Sunday, Oct. 12, in the late afternoon, once officials are sure that the bridge can handle the weight of the cars.....after having thousands of people walk on it the day before.
We will discover the bridge and find out what we got for 211 million CHF. We will walk and then jump on the bridge at the same time to see if it doesn't fall apart. Then we will take a walk through the tunnel, and if there are no cave-ins, or we don't get lost, perhaps end our journey with a delicious fondue in the old town.
Our meeting point will be at the Fribourg train station at 12:00
