Hiking with Dogs- May Edition - Gaillard, France
Sunday, May 27th, 2018 @ 10:30
Gaillard, France, Geneva
How about getting together this Sunday May 27 for a hike & picnic by the beautiful river Arve on the French side (really close to the border with Geneva)?
This event is co-organized with Kristiana and her Expat dogs in Geneva group https://www.facebook.com/groups/expatdogsingeneva/
We are going to meet at 10:30 at Intermarché at Gaillard (https://goo.gl/maps/7vXim5UXPcr) and start our hike. That would be a good chance also for those who need to do some last minute shopping for our picnic
You can leave your car there or at the designated parking area nearby: https://goo.gl/maps/xP3NPU6PPWL2
The hike is really easy for hikers and dogs equally. The river will be on our left hand side at all times so those of you who have pups who are swimmers and water lovers, keep this in mind.
Caution for smaller dogs / puppies: the river Arve has strong currents- always supervise your dog when in water.
After our hike, we will either use the designated picnic area - if the tables are free.
Alternatively we can also sit on the bank of the river and enjoy the sunny day.
What to bring:
-food & drinks for you and your pups
-lots of water
-towels and flip flops (even swimsuits if you feel like cooling off in the Arve)
-hat & sunglasses
Disclaimer:
Please only come if your dog is -
- Old enough to walk for 2 hours (no puppies under the age of 10 months, unless you're able to carry them)
- Friendly with other dogs
- Obedient (good recall, particularly in situations where we may come across wild animals/livestock)
- In good health (no diarrhoea, coughing, limping, after an operation, etc)
Owners are responsible for their own dogs. Geneva hiking with dogs and Expat Dogs in Geneva are both voluntary groups and cannot be held responsible for any accidents/incidents during one of its walks.
Children are welcome on this walk. Please ensure there are enough adults to keep an eye on your children and dogs in order to keep every one safe.
Please let me know in advance if your dog has any behavioural issues i.e. Fear of larger dogs, dominance, etc and we can agree if your dog can join but be kept on a lead, muzzled etc.
