March for the animals to end speciesism

Join the thousands of people around the world and the hundreds of people to march through central Geneva in defence of non-human animals on World Day to End Speciesism (WoDES). Please check the event's page for the exact start of the march. See details below:
In our societies our relationship with animals is based on speciesism. By analogy with racism and sexism, speciesism refers to an ideology that considers the lives and interests of animals as insignificant just because they are of a different species. Speciesism is untenable because humans are not the only ones to feel emotions and therefore we have to respect the lives and interests of the other sentient beings who share this planet with us.
Injustices of the past, such as slavery and the low status assigned to women, have been abolished or reduced. They too were so embedded in the collective consciousness that they were thought to be eternal. But history has shown the opposite and we can easily imagine that one day slaughterhouses will be deemed to be a symbol of barbarity. More and more of us are beginning to take a stand against injustice to animals, which has become one of the most important social debates of our time.
The goal of the World Day for the End of Speciesism is to denounce the unjust ideology that makes this barbarity possible.
In Switzerland, the March for the End of Speciesism is organised by the association PEA - Pour l'Égalité Animale on August 25th, 2018.
===> PROGRAM OF THE DAY:
11.00 am - Opening of the village of associations at Parc des Cropettes (behind the CFF station Cornavin), where the walk will arrive. Vegan snacks.
1.00 pm - Gathering and speeches in front of Saint Peter's Cathedral (Old Town).
2.00 pm - START OF MARCH (duration: approximately two hours, several happenings and speeches will take place along the route)
All afternoon: associative village of stands (parc des Cropettes, behind the CFF station Cornavin, place of arrival of the March).
8.00 p.m - Night event: vegan buffet and concerts at Café Gavroche, boulevard James-Fazy 4.
