The Berges de Vessy is a small run-of-river hydroelectric station on the Arve between Veryrier and Chene-Bourges. They are having their annual open day on 1 Oct. The site is set up as a museum that demonstrates the history of the site - the open day will include a workshop in a smithy onsite, a demonstration of the 1932 diesel engine, and the ability to walk around the buildings.
There are family friendly activities such as mobile phone charging using muscle power, and children can experiment with exhibits relating to electricity, play with water games, and take part in virtual reality activities on hydro power. Food is also available onsite.
The event is not directly organised by this glocals group but It would be good get a few of us together so we can start to meet technicians and engineers there and to start building up our glocals community! And, of course, to inspire the next generation..........
