2 day easy alpinism - Rheinwaldhorn/Adula

, Zurich
This could be of interest to anyone living nearer to Lugano (where we are in desperate need of a glocals) but also feasible from Geneva but n.b it is a Sunday and Monday. Train tickets with the half fare card are max 55 per person one way and it is possible to find cheaper versions. I am doing a 4 day traverse from Airola to Olivone (this walk already full) and after three of us are going to continue to the cabane Adula (CAS Ticino) and up the Adula (3402 metres) and then try to get back to civilisation the Monday evening. It is possible to leave Tcino at about 18h30 by train and get back to Geneva around midnight. If anyone is interested (could take up to two people -more if you have your own rope), contact me on pseverett@yahoo.co.uk BUT it involves a glacier, apparently an easy one unless we decide to go down on the Grisons side to the Zapporthutte so you must have had some glacier experience. Equipment required are harness, crampons, ice axe, cordelette a couple of carabiners, ice screw if you possess. Also note that although I have a certificate from the Swiss Alpine club which states that I am capable of leading 'aplinism facile', I do not do this officially simply because in my opinion I have not done enough glacier work and even though I have made dozens of outings on glaciers and several 4000 metre peaks (always without guides), I prefer to lead such outings privately with people who have at least some glacier experience - also this glacier is designated as PD-. Suffice it to say that if the weather turns, it will be replaced by a non glacier traverse from Olivone to Biasca, still staying at the same hut. Contact pseverett@yahoo.co.uk
