snowshoe hike: Chalets des Auges
Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 @ 08:30
, Geneva
Update 1 March: FULL
There is quite some new snow on the mountains so let's enjoy it!
Coming Sunday, we will depart from the Plateau des Glières (famous for the French resistance during World War II) towards the Chalets des Auges (1782 metres). Gradient about 500 metres, distance 9 to 10 km. On the way back, we will probably continue over the plateau towards the Chapelle de Notre Dame des Neiges. Total walking time excluding breaks 4 to 5 hours.
This hike is for fit persons with some experience in snowshoeing.
We will meet at 8h30at the French side of the Moillesulaz border.
If you do not have snowshoes, rent them in advance (addresses of rental places are at http://www.sindy.ch/snowshoes.doc), or at the little cross-country ski station on the Plateau des Glières.
You will also need: mountain hiking shoes (you cannot use snowshoes with trainers or city boots), warm clothes, sun cream and sunglasses, your passport and some Euros, drinks and picnic. Take gaiters if you have them.
The hike is organised by the small hiking association Oxygene 74 http://rando-74.pagespro-orange.fr . There is a participation fee of 5 Euro for a daily license of the French hiking federation FFRP. Non-drivers will pay 9 Euro to the drivers for transport. Drivers who can transport others are particularly welcome.
Cheers,
Bert
