On Saturday 17 January, I am organising a snowshoe hike to the Col de Cenise. We will meet at the French-Swiss border at 8h30 (those registered will get the details). We drive to Bonneville for a coffee and then continue to Mont Saxonnex and the car park Pellaz (1250 m.)

From there, we will gradually walk uphill towards Frachets (1609 m.) and the Col de Cenise (1724 m.). We will make a loop over the plateau and then get back to the Col, making our way down. Great views on the Bargy mountain chain and other summits in the area.

This is a relatively easy hike with a gradient of less than 500 metres, suitable for persons with some snowshoe experience or sporty beginners.

If you do not have your own snowshoes, you can rent them in advance (for a list of rental places see http://www.sindy.ch/snowshoes.doc - in addition, there is Cactus Sports in Carouge) or in Mont Saxonnex.

You will need: suitable shoes, poles and gaiters, warm clothes, sun cream and sunglasses, your passport and some Euros, drinks and picnic.

The hike is organised by the small hiking association Oxygene 74 http://rando-74.pagespro-orange.fr/. There is a participation fee of 5 Euro for a daily license of the French hiking federation FFRP.
Non-drivers will pay 9 Euro to the drivers for transport. Cars obviously need to be equipped with snow tyres.
