Mountain hike to the Mont Forchat, Vallée Verte
Sunday, April 19th, 2015 @ 08:30
, Geneva
Update 16 April: FULL for all. There is no waiting list.
Coming Sunday 19 April, I am organising a hike to the Mont Forchat (1539 metres), a summit in the Vallée Verte (Green Valley), about 30 km from Geneva.
We meet at the Swiss-French border and drive to Villard or Habere-Poche for a coffee. We drive on to the parking near Col des Mosses where we start the hike. We go gradually uphill through the forests, with some view points. The short final ascent to the Mont Forchat is somewhat steeper but the view from the top over the Lac Leman and the region is worth it.
The hike will about four to five hours (excluding breaks) and has a gradient of about 550 metres. It is about 9 km. long. It is a rather easy hike for fit persons with some hiking experience.
The departure is at 8 h 30 from the French-Swiss border, common
transport by cars (shared petrol costs, 6 Euro). Details will be sent to the participants.
You will need enough food and drinks, suitable clothes, plus your passport and some euros – and a rucksack to put this all in, and your hiking boots of course (no running shoes).
The hike is organised by the small hiking association Oxygene 74
http://rando-74.pagespro-orange.fr. There is a participation fee of 5 Euro
for a daily license of the French hiking federation FFRP, including
insurance.
If you want to participate please drop me a line giving your telephone number and mentioning whether you will come by car.
Best wishes,
Bert
