VEVEY: Storytelling by the Fireplace!

Friday, November 18th, 2011 @ 20:00
VEVEY and NOT Lausanne, Lausanne
Before the TV and the internet, people used to gather in the evening for dinner to eat and socialize. They got to know each other and understand each other far better than we do today. They did not chat over Facebook or MSNmessenger to socialize; they met in person, talked face to face and shared their emotions. They sat after dinner, had a drink and listened to stories told by each other, next to a fireplace, which was the only entertainment you can watch. When living by the sea, such tales involved travel experiences of the ocean sailors, thus bringing the entire world into the village.
Our first trial of Fireplace Storytelling was real success! We enjoyed it! We applauded the good storytellers and had lots of fun!
We got some pictures and audio recordings to share with you on the website created for this activity: http://fireplacestories.com/
We have also created a special page on Facebook for this
http://www.facebook.com/pages/FireplaceStories/129783297130045
and a special group, totally dedicated for the cause
http://www.facebook.com/groups/220302618037816/

You may take part in this activity even if you simply wish to come and listen …
Your story should be in English. If by chance we happen to be all French speakers as well, you are OK to tell your story in French if you are happy to do so.
Invent yourself a new life, pick up a tale from your original region, describe an amazing travel experience, and make us laugh, cry or dream: tell us a story!
Text is inspired by Pierre's great idea here

• Please let me know if anybody is coming with you.
• If you are late, kindly send me an SMS to 079 664 35 21.
• We don’t share the bill. Everybody pays for his or her own food and drinks.
