Konstanz Oktoberfest (with hike?)
Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 @ 13:00
Konstanz, Zurich
As with every year, the arrival of autumn calls for an Oktoberfest event. Would anyone be up for having a weekend journey to Konstanz (Germany)? The idea is to spend Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th by the Bodensee, so as to attend the Oktoberfest on Saturday and a have a hike on Sunday. Of course, if you live nearby you're also welcome to join us just for one day.
Main target of the trip will be the historical and wacky town of Konstanz: the town, which boasts as landmark the revolving 9mt tall statue of prostitute Imperia, came out unscathed from WWII bombings and therefore offers a welcoming town center, with bizarre fountains. Its Oktoberfest is also very entertaining: if we're as lucky as in the past 4 years, we'll have a fun evening.
The plan in short: have a walk in Konstanz on Saturday, then dine&party under the Oktoberfest tents.
The Sunday plan will depend on the forecast and on how many we are, the rough idea is to have a 2 hour hike on the mountains nearby. After visiting the Hegau volcanoes and Stein Am Rhein, the Beuron abbey and the Salem storks and monkeys, Sipplingen, this year we might head to Ludwishafen, as it promises castle ruins and many lookout points over the Bodensee. Alternatively, the Unesco heritage island of Reichenau, less panoramic but full of ancient churches.

**** how to get to Konstanz, and how to come back alive ******
While waiting to book hotels, I bought the following train ticket:
Saturday 23
Zürich HB 14:35
Singen(Hohentwiel) 15:30
(19,90 euro)
I still have to book the ticket back: I'll likely also take Monday off and probably will travel by Flixbus.
