Let's Hike!
Weather forecast is good and this may be the last chance to see the beautiful Autumn colours of Trient and the disappearing glacier.

BASIC INFO:
Total Hiking Time: approx 4 hours including lunch
Elevation: Approx 400 metres up/400 down
Kilometres: approx. 10 kms
Difficulty: Steep climb at beginning up to the Bisse, then flat, then up again towards the glacier (optional) then sort of steep back down.

ROUTE DETAIL:
We start in the village of Trient, take a STEEP path up through the forest to the level of Col de Forlaz - along the Bisse with stunning views over the valley to Col de Balme. We will then reach the Chalet du Glacier, where we continue to climb up, over rocks and streams. Picnic Lunch on the rocks of the former glacier. Then back down a different route, through the forest and back to Trient.
This is (sort of) a circular hike.

GETTING THERE:
Only accessible by car so please post below if you can offer a lift.
Directions: Take the motorway towards Martigny then follow the signs for Chamonix.
There is only one road and it will take you directly to Trient - as you come down the hill after the Col de Forclaz, you'll see the bright pink church of Trient!.

THE ONE AND ONLY MEETING POINT:
Trient car park @ 11h00 by the water trough
Turn left off the main road and immediately there is a small car park on the right with a water trough. Additional parking behind the church

BRING:
Cash for a tea/coffee at the Chalet du Glacier (toilets are for customers only!)
Picnic Lunch & something to sit on
Good Hiking/Walking Shoes
Suitable clothing – check the weather and come prepared
POLES - there's a lot of "down" on the way back
