Hiking among 100 valleys: Intragna-Rasa

Hiking among 100 valleys: Intragna-Rasa Picture

Intragna, Zurich

Hello! Is anyone up for a ride&hike on the Centovalli train? The plan is to take the panoramic train that connects Locarno to Domodossola and is famous for crossing many secluded valleys (so many, that it's called "treno delle Centovalli", i.e. train of One Hundred Valleys).
One of most famous hikes along the line is Intragna-Rasa: it leads to a secluded hamlet forgotten by time and follows several chapels and bridges, the most famous of which is a 500 years old arch bridge made of stone and featuring the Nepomuk chapel on its top. More on the hike on https://www.lagomaggiore-e-dintorni.it/.../302-intragna-rasa and on Rasa on: https://www.ticinotopten.ch/en/villages/rasa-centovalli

As the destination is relatively close to Zurich, you can choose to come on a day trip or a weekend trip. If you come on a day trip, the 7:30 train from Zurich reaches Intragna at 10:22 (with changes at Bellinzona and Locarno).

If you come for both days, Locarno, Lugano and Mendrisio offer plenty of accommodation. Just make sure that the hotel provides you with a Ticino Card (90% of Ticinese hotels offer it). This will allow you to travel for free both on Saturday and on Sunday, throughout the whole canton.

For coming back, we'll probably aim for the 17:00 train from Corcapolo station.
