Bus/train access to cross country skiing near Geneva

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a x-country ski area accessible by public transportation (bus/train) from Geneva city center (ideally on weekends too)? If possible, any info on whether such an area exists and if they do ski rental/lessons would be helpful...

Many thanks in advance!!

Hello Jonathan,

Not sure if cross-country means 'ski de fond' ou 'ski de randonnée'.

If it is the first version, then I would really recommend 'La Givrine'. A wide domain which can be easily reached by train. You can rent material in St Cergue and maybe at La Givrine (the shop in St-Cergue is the same than the one in La Givrine); the second one is directly at the train station and at the beginning or the 'circuits'. There is a daily fee to pay but worth it. Morgins is a bit further away but is another option.

The following link gives you infos about trains :

If you plan to go often, maybe it's worth taking a 'abonnement demi-tarif'. You can buy it at the Cornavin railway station.

Have fun!

Cheers

I'm going cross country skiing on Sunday, 7 Feb if you're interested.  See the 'thing to do' I posted.
