I travelled from fribourg to Wien, Took me almost 13 Hours by train, On my Way Back I stayed at Salzburg, it is a nice place to visit.
But all these places are doable by train.
Geneve to Zurich
Zurich to Insbruck (4 hours)
Insbruck to Salzburg (1 Hour) (There is so much to see in salazburg give it alteast a full day)
Salzburg to Linz (1 to 2 hours depends on the train route)
Linz to Praha (Dont know)
Salzburg to Wien (4 Hours) You need to give it at least 2 days. There is so much to see in Wien.
Wien to Budapest (4 hours) Never been to this place but heard that it is a nice place to visit.
So it is doable to visit all these places in 6 days.

I often take the train when I go home to visit my parents (south of Czech Rep.). It takes me around 12 hours in total and its a very nice scenic journey through the alps. The trains are mostly very comfortable and modern.
In particualr the train from Zurich to Linz is a great experience. This is a new train which is classed as high speed and has an excellent level of service. On the way to Linz it passes through Insbrug and Salzburg and then continues to Vienna and Budapest.
I buy the tickets in advance on the Austrian website www.oebb.at and I get great deals this way. In the past I have travelled the whole way from Geneva to home in 1st class for 80 Euro.
This is important because you might find that with this offer you can visit most of those cities for less than the price of the Inter Rail.

Hi DanielaGenev,
Your question is… Does it make sense to travel 6 or more Europen cities by interrail in 6 days?’
‘Honestly a big NO’…others made a mistake…u should not do so. Do u need a CV with more cities or value for your travel with knowledge? If value then visit not more than 3 cities in 6 days…give 2 days for one city…it’s decent enough (if not sufficient)...check out major tourist attractions, town, place to dance n dine..a lot more... This way u will learn and understand the place better…
This will always help you in Tourism ...Travelling should be fun not a punishment…so chill out girl…u will live long…n have enough time to see the world…Thz my opinion….choice is yourz..I work inTravel industry and wish to guide u with correct information!! All the best.......get set go!!.

Best approach: You have 6 days so pick the 2 cities that you like best (or 3 if they are really close to each other and relatively small). Next: compare price of Interrail with plane tickets to these destinations. I wouldn't be surprised if plane were cheaper. Also consider that if you go by plane you'll probably stay1-2 nights less in a hotel, which saves money.
Interrail is fun if you're in a big group (done it when I was 20-ish with 12 guys), and if you're comfortable sleeping in night trains while travelling to your next destination (thus saving hotel expenses). If you DON'T like that, then Interrail can be pretty exhausting (you'll know if you've ever spent more than 8 hours straight in a train).

No its a special offer with special conditions - it must be booked in advance and online, its valied only point to point for a specified day and trains. But looking at the prices of InterRail and based on my experience I think you can buy several of these tickets and it will be cheaper or around the same price but you dont have to do everything in 6 days. You can go one weekend to a few of these and then another weekend to another few of these cities.
The way you do it is that you search for your journey and then you click to buy tickets. If its long enough in advance and they have tickets left the special deal will be there. When came back here from Christmas I booked it one week in advance and I was still able to get the special deal.

What's great about Interrail is that you can visit a city and in the evening turn up at the train station, look at the departure info and just think ok, I want to go THERE now, and it's free (if it's in the same zone, and some high-speed trains are not included). You can save a lot of money and time that way just sleeping on the train, as long as you're ok with that and keep your belongings safe, just in case. And it's a terrific feeling waking up arriving in a new city. Just put your bag in a locker and go exploring.
So for me the best way to take advantage of Interrail was every other night to try to do this, to take advantage of both the savings and freedom to move within the chosen zone. I say every other night as there usually was enough to see for 2 days in a given area, and you do want to sleep in hostels too, if only to benefit from a bed and access to a shower.
