Dropped in it by our au-pair

Our au-pair has just decided that she doesn't like Geneva as we are not providing her with career advancement (honestly!).  She told us last night and has booked a ticket for Amsterdam for tuesday.  I can imagine some people will be thinking that we are obviously an explotatative family, but her task is to drop our 6 year old boy off at school in the morning and pick him up in the evening 4 days a week.  She never worked weekends or evenings, had no requirement to do housework and had the biggest room in the house (handy because she seldom ventured out of it).

We're not a wealthy family, my wife and I both work and our son is at a local school.  I can drop him off at school but the eraliest I can be back is at 530 in the evening.

Does anyone out there know whether there are such a thing as state-run afterschool clubs / day care that we can enroll our son in until we're able to try and find another au-pair?

Sprry for the ranty nature of the post, but we really feel let down about this

... our local one does. We don't avail of them because we don't need to but I know loads of parents in your position who are able to leave their kids till 6 pm.

I had assumed all local schools provide the same thing?

Perhaps a bit far but the Little Green House in Gland is an excellent private creche with flexibe hours aimed at working parents. Website: http://www.littlegreenhouse.ch/en/locations/welcome-to-gland/

In Meyring, there is a Garderie, not Gex but is in Geneva if both work in Geneva, its just pass by drop off and pickup, maybe?

Or there is a an association in Meyrin for parascholaire:

Ask them and they might have some solutions or informations.

Good Luck
