As many of you I've been moving around a lot, and have never really had a chance to make my space look personal and not like another IKKEA shop... I'll be moving in an apartment next week (in Nyon) for what seems to be a longer time... If there's anyone here who has some designer experience, I will appreciate getting your advise. There's an open kitchen/living room plan with a door to a balcony, and I'd like to make it look nice, comfortable and a bit more stylish...Thank you in advance. Gaini

Sorry if I didn't mention. I treat you a dinner/drink/small fee and I'm not looking for professionals but people with taste perhaps.... :-) May be not too much to offer, but may be you have always wanted to design a space and get recognized for it? I just hope there's something in it for you too.....

Glad you mentioned it, because I was just about to tell you that there are people out there who like doing that; they are called 'interior designers', and they usually charge you for their services 
If you just need some general ideas and are still shopping around for furniture, most of the more personal (ie. IKEA not) outfits have someone on board with a good eye for what works and what not. Find a place that offers something in your general direction and, if you are willing to spend some money there, they will most probably be able to share some insights. Personally, I had a good experience with the Salon Center just outside Ferney, but it looks as if the incomparable Antoine has moved on to greener pastures...

Thank you all very much. I will get definitely get back in touch with those who offered help. I'm having my entry inspection on Friday, and will take some pictures and will take a note of measures. So expect to hear from me soon - perhaps I could even 3 of you who volunteered together? How about Sunday for lunch in Geneva or in Nyon?
