Hello all,
Is there such a species as an honest used-cars dealer? If there is, where can I find one in Geneva?

Hello,
Haven't bought a car in Switzerland so don't know from my own experience.
However, a friend (a woman) bought a VW van to a Swiss gentleman in the Basel area for an excellent price and the car was/is in top condition.
This was a private sale, so the message is that there are honest people around.
If you know anything about cars (and what may be the right questions to ask) perhaps your best option will be to look around the adds for private sales. There are tons of them.
Perhaps you have already done so, but if you have only been in Geneva for a short time, try to ask some questions related to aspects of car ownership (e.g. insurance price, parking price, getting a license plate, etc). Many of my friends have given up on being car owners in Geneva.
Another idea would be to check the car sharing scheme in place in Switzerland. It's called Mobility and their website is: https://www.mobility.ch/en/private-customers/
Hope this helps - Catarina

One of the largest used car dealership in Switzerland is Roc Occasion, website: http://www.roc-occ.ch. You might not get a mega bargain from a big dealer like them but their used cars are in good condition, serviced & come with 12 month warranty. They have an online search function of their stock and you can search by model, vehicle type etc.
