Since we just moved to switzerland, there are some things that we just don't know yet!l
Like this: We just bought a new wash machine and we know that it needs to be installed by a professional because of the insurance.
Anyone who can help me where to find someone who could do this for us? And how does it work, do you get a certificat as a proof or something like this?

I suspect the insurance thing is bullshit, but I can't prove it. It's one of those things that must be true because everyone says it is. Either way, general coverage on your apartment and its contents is a good idea.
One of these days I'll run my Allianz policy through Google Translate...

The invoice should be your proof. Does the shop where you bought not install as well?

300-400 CHF, and they'll come and do it for you, any company listed in 'yellow pages' under respective section... (less if some friends do it as a side-income). however, never heard of actual documents required by insurance to prove

Is it even legal/enforcable to state that in the lease? I mean, what other devices are generally disallowed.. radio, TV, Significant Other, laptop, books?

i don't know if the comment about the lease was for me - what i meant to say that provided it's OK to have washing machine in the apartment, I didn't hear that anyone (including insurance company) would then actually check how it was installed

When I first came to Geneva I do remember looking at a flat in the old town and was warned that washing machines were not allowed in that particular block. I did not pursue the matter. In my current block (not old town) there is a communal washing machine which residents can use at any time proided it is free. When the regie refurbished the flat we asked for and got permission to install a washing machine but we had to buy it, as there had never been a washing machine ion the flat. The regie redid the kitchen leaving space for a machine and a professional installed it.
Regarding insurance etc I would assume that if you were to install it yourself and flooding occurred as a result you would become liable ather than an installation company. Hopefully you would be covered by your third party insurance
