Looking for experiences with car insurance?

Hey all,

Just bought a car which I am picking up this weekend (BMW) - I am now looking at insurance and checked comparis.ch from where I got different quotes - really nice prices from Baloise, Alliance24 and something "smile" - does anyone have any good/bad experiences with these companies to share - or with any other companies in case :-)

Thanks for your input!

Caroline,

Congrats on the new purchase! Sounds like fun....convertible? ;) If you need a passenger to show off to......

Sadly, I don't have any knowledge with choosing or buying car insurance, but I do have an experience I'd like some feedback on. But, I'll create my own thread instead of hi-jacking yours.

Good luck finding your answers, but.....

Doesn't glocals have a deal with Allianz insurance? Do they offer car insurance? Maybe that's a good place to start?

They do, but not the best deal... I think im on the way though... I did comparis.ch to have an idea and then contacted an agent that a colleague knows - I am negociating with him and will find a solution tomorrow hopefully :-)

And unfortunately no convertible, as I will be using the car to ski a lot I want to be able to throw a box on top in case we go too many to use the ski passage in the car....hehe

I think most weirdesh thing happened this evening. Seeing your posting I decided to ask for some offers for my Audi to be registered in Switzerland through comparis.ch and I got like two phone calls from comppanies to insure me. Like what? In my home country I need to beg someone to give any interest in insurance stuff. I like swiss way that companies really see an effort to make some money out of me. :)

What I suggest. Use comparis.ch and ask for offers and the comppanies will call you. Show just needed interest and they give you pretty good offers :) Cannot say anything about the price range though...

Whilst Comparis.ch will give you a very good general overview of the insurance companies to go with, you might also want to individually call each of them and negotiate. Yes, it is possible to negotiate your vehicle insurance by using the tactic of "Well, Zurich gave me a quote of 2500chf, so can you people at AXA-Winterthur do better than this?". And before you know it, they'll undercut the opposition by 100chf or so.

So you got the X-drive 325 or was it a 330? Good choice. I assume you also gave the car a spin and followed some guidelines on buying a second hand car to make sure that "alles in ordnung" with the vehicle :) ? (i.e. everything is in working order).

Coincidentally, I'm now starting to look at the shopping list for another car... time for the fun and games of testdriving to begin once again. hmmm... Another Mercedes or shall I go with Audi this time ^_^

Zonker: if you wanna spin in a convertible... you can always PM me ;)
