New Search Engine debuted today-FYI
Ex-Google engineers debut 'Cuil' way to search
Anna Patterson's last Internet search engine was so impressive that industry leader Google Inc. bought the technology in 2004 to upgrade its own system.

read the article then check it out for yourself—it really is quite a good search engine  www.cuil.com

Gave it a try and was not convinced. Lay out is great, but skipping from page to page was really slow and the results were shown in an order that made less sense to me than Google's.

Tried it also. Nice design, but some place for improvement. Speed is o.k. Listing of pages is poor. Search result is poor, too. Server problems appeared (21.43).

Ok.. I've now tried it and it's kinda 'Cuil' (Cool).  i did a search for myself and it put me on ahead of my sisterens who are a scientist, researcher, professor and photographer (someone i've been in contact with before). vs. Google putting me in 4th place.

Pretty cool indeed.

Most of us use Google for all searches, and it's easy to miss the fact that there are alot of companies out there trying to create the 'next generation' search engine, which will (hopefully) be even better than Google.

Here is some more info about this new search engine (Cuil) from TechCrunch:

Thanks for the tip!

Just tried Cuil, and I like the presentation of the results.

I noted that it does not cluster results, you can get several pages from the same site in the result display.

Cheers,

Bert

PS We are running a vertical search engine specialised in human rights: www.hurisearch.org
