Not so fit but want to hike/snowshoe etc?

I would love to walk in the mountains but am not really fit enough to join all the sporty hikes on here.

I'm not an OAP,just never had much stamina, though I do swim twice a week.

Would love to find other(s) in a similar situation(preferably with car!!) who would like to share gentle walks in these beautiful surroundings.

I KNOW there are nice places to walk that aren't so physically challenging - but I'd like company.

Anyone else intereested?

Hi again, yes I'm in Gva but I don't mind driving. I'm not free this coming Sunday, and besides the weather is announced as rainy and therefore lousy for walks.

Valais is a hiker's paradise and I go there sometimes (but not really for hiking, or not much), however you'd need a whole day for the trip + walk and I was rather thinking of something less time-consuming. There are a lot of nice places between Gva and Lausanne, on the Jura side. Maybe we should ask member Kassari for tips and ideas, as he organizes many walks although mostly in the Geneva area.

Sorry, I posted a first post telling of my interest but somehow I deleted it before I posted the second.

So there's me interested in it too, and as I said, I do have a vehicle.

Morges has a loop that departs from Morges Gare and circles around Vufflens-le-Chateau but I don't think it would be very scenic in the winter.  It's lush green forest in the summer and colorful in autumn.

La Tine/La Sarraz could be an option.  It's not at significant elevation so it's unlikely to become a snowshoe adventure as long as there's no snow down here.

For snowshoes, St. Cergue and La Cure have a lot to offer but I can't help with any specific routes.  I haven't made it up there yet.

Referring to Buzzcocks' initial post, I'm looking for rather short and easy walks, between Geneva and Lausanne. I consider myself as rather unfit - although I play badminton & swim every week - and in no way as crazy about sports as many people here on Glocals seem to be (and I hate skiing and waking up at dawn for extreme and freezing hikes). That's why I liked your post, Buzzcocks.

So, where are we to start? I'm afraid for now the weather is against all people of goodwill.

As richardm said, there are nice areas around so no need to go too far, but maybe this weekend is not the best due to the weather... anyway, if the forecast changes I am still up for an easy walk on Sunday.

Ha - I see that "Mimi-crobe" is on my wave-length! I have the same aversion to early starts(especially as i'm often out weekend nights!)

Everybody's right about this weekend and the weather though, like "Tulio S" i'd be up for a gentle walk too if things improved.

I'm thinking of setting up a group of "non-sporty walkers" or something like that to add to the Glocals list. What do you thinkLlike that,it would be easier for us all to join and keep in contact to arrange something. If someone has a good idea they will be able to contact all the others in one go-what do you think?

I know you're thinking "butt out, Carolyn, you're too sporty to even be on this post" ........

BUT.....Christophe B's "hikes" are NOT very sporty and are always in beautiful parts of the area.  Unless he says otherwise, they are generally gentle strolls, at an easy pace with long lunch breaks and lots of stops (pauses).

He's very good company and always has a great group of people (and loads of photographers - hence why its a slowish pace).

He's probably snow shoeing this Sunday - but it may change to a walk in the Jura (due to the crap weather and avalanche risk in Valais).  There's usually someone to car-share with and its not always an early start (unless its a long journey).

Worth giving him a try - and you sometimes get my company thrown in.

What's not to like!! Cool

I am definitely up for this as tend to feel I am not fit enough for some of the other Glocals physical activities!

So do count me in and I look forward to reading more on here about it in the coming days :-))

Still waiting to see if the "group" gets approval........seems to be taking a long time.I mean.......it's not like we're trying to do anything controversial,is it?.Then again, the "Non-sporty" bit....hmmm....could be very controversial in Switzerland!

Hey you guys - we now have a group. It is on the Glocals "Groups" page .Please join if you'd like to get something organised for the near future.

There are already some good ideas above.Even I have a couple up my sleeve. It all depends on weather of course.
