Hello,
I have friends who would like to spend 10 days in or around Rolles (within 30-40 min by car),and they are looking for a place where they can also bring their kids and relax. Does someone have any suggestions?
thanks a lot.

Try renting an apartment. The local tourist offices do a list, for example:
http://www.morges-tourisme.ch/fr/hebergement/bnb_appart/appartements_vacances
and click on the pdf to download.
Used the b&b at Gilly (close to Rolle), it was fine but this was quite a few years ago. I think they used to close in late Sept - early Oct, but it's not mentioned, so check.

Hi - I used to work in Rolle, so know hotels around the area quite well. Don't stay at the Hostellerie du Rolle - some of the rooms are sub-standard, the food is monotonous and the freight trains run all night. If they want to stay away from the Movenpicks and Holiday Inn type of places, here are some local suggestions:
I think the Auberge Charlie mentions is the Auberge Dully - which has a great restaurant, but they only have a couple of rooms.

Also nice is the Clef d'Or in Bursinel - great restaurant but they close on Monday's so arrival is "by arrangement".

Also used the Petit Manoir in Morges - they don't have a restaurant as such, but there are other nice places to eat (the breakfast is a cold buffet for that reason) - so may not be best for kids, on reflection!
And the Fleur du Lac in Morges is also very nice - right on the lake at the far end of town - very quite and has a lovely garden and right next to the park for the kids.
Otherwise there are loads of B&B (but some only open in the summer) that might be good for the kids.
There are quite a few English speaking places and its a great way to stay with locals, find out about the area and save some money.
Hope that all helps and they have a great trip.

Would Gimel be close enough, as I have a friend who has converted a barn in Gimel to appartments and I think there are empty ones they could have for a couple of weeks.

Hallo Fulingan,
I live in Gland & know the area quite well : without any hesitation I recommend the Hôtel-Restaurant de la Plage located on a cliff above the Gland beach overlooking the lake & the French Alps. In the summer many travel out of Geneva to the Hôtel de la Plage just to enjoy the Filets de perches in its restaurant... If you are happy there & feel good about it, you may well invite me for the filets de perches... Good luck & see you hopefully soon !
