Thanks for sharing buddy. I'm usually into basic foods, but admit the stuff here looks interesting. I'm sure they'll open a Geneva branch soon...

Interesting that almost all courses the guy was served, needed a spoon to eat....

As a concept its probably a "try once" experience...  but cant see people going back too often, humans need to chew their food occasionally.

;-) thanks for posting though.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime (or try-once) experience mainly because it was near impossible to get a reservation; it's a small restaurant.

A colleague of mine has tried for years but couldn't get in. Offering money doesn't help; they simply select randomly from the people who sign up, and (according to one article) that gave you a 1% chance of getting in.

its closed now since July 2011...will reopen as a "creativity" centre (whatever that means)..seems the new concept didnt work.

In its heyday, it was a long standing 3 star michelin resto, successful and famous for it.... but I guess they just went a bit too wierd.

From Wiki : elBulli[1] (Catalan pronunciation: [əɫ ˈβuʎi]) was a Michelin 3-star restaurant near the town of Roses, Catalonia, Spain, run by chef Ferran Adrià. The small restaurant overlooked Cala Montjoi, a bay on Catalonia's Costa Brava, and has been described as "the most imaginative generator of haute cuisine on the planet"[2] and does a great deal of work on molecular gastronomy. The restaurant is closed as of July 30, 2011, to reopen as a creativity center in 2014.

I think they simply had a very difficult time to stay profitable. That sounds odd maybe, but they were closed 4-5 months per year to do research, during which they travelled the world and experimented a lot to create new innovations. And they had a lot of top-quality staff but not many seats, and they didn't want to charge completely outrageous prices.

There a Harvard Business Case about it if you're really interested.
