Vietnamese embassy in Geneva?

Hi everyone!

I need to get a Vietnamese visa as I will be going to Vietnam in February, and as far as I know there is an embassy in Bern, but I'm hoping I won't have to drive all that way.

Does anyone know anything about an embassy in Geneva?

I've searched on googlemaps and apparently there is a consulate, although I'm not sure how reliable that information is/if it has the same function as the embassy.

Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to get a visa at the consulate in Geneva. I got one there a few years ago.

Check their web site and/or call ahead to make sure you have all the things required for the visa application.

Good luck.

The issuance of visas is a consular function.  Hence, a consulate is not necessarily housed in an Embassy, which is always located in the capital city of the host government.  (Note:  only one Embassy per country!)

You can certainly obtain your visa online or at the Vietnam Consulate in Geneva.  Their website gives full details and you can also telephone if you have any additional

questions.

I toured Vietnam for two weeks in November and obtained my visa upon arrival in Hanoi though the travel agency I had booked my circuit with had sent an invitation letter to me before hand. Be aware that as a US citizen I had to pay $120.00. Karin

Super easy to get the visa from the Consulate in Grand Saconnex in Geneva. Processing time takes approximately 1 week and costs 70 chf in cash. Make sure you have a passport photo as well and the date you intend to enter Vietnam from.

Update: I went to the consulate in Geneva this morning, and it was all pretty straightforward. No problems at all :)

Hi Tamah,

Did you have to leave your passport at the consulate for visa processing? If so, for how long, and did you notice if there was an 'express' option?

I'm living in France, working in Geneva, so technically should have my passport with me whenever I cross the border...

Thanks,

Madeleine

My tip is to make a couple of copies of your passport.

Keep one in a safe place at home in case the original gets lost or stolen.

And perhaps keep a copy in your wallet or purse as well as another  in your carry-on trolley-case.

You never know when they might come in useful.
