Daycare/Crèche in Geneva

Hey Friends,

I try to keep posts like this away from here as they are a nuisance, but our kid is 2 months old now and needs a spot at the crèche or a nanny within a month and a half. Everyone is fully aware of the disastrous crèche situation in this city that has been mismanaged to high heavens w/r/t this.

So far we've exhausted:

A public institution in 2 communes

Marry Poppins

2 Private crèches (Scoubidou and Menthe a L'eau or whatever it's called).

Are there any other options aside from taking a heinously expensive maman du jour that you know of or any other private institutions you are aware of?

Check out a new Montessori kindergarden/ creche in Tullipier. I do not remember the name, but this could be an option once they are ready to start.

Have you tried contacting one of the Family Groups on glocals for suggestions?

Maybe you could share a nanny?

Have a look at the Classifieds. There’s an offer of a part-time nanny in Plainpalais as from September.

Ah, the habits of a mis-spent life are hard to break – and, yes, I do already need a nanny but when one’s in one’s third childhood what else can one expect?
