Do you require permit to renovate an apartment in Geneva?

We are soon to be flat owners in Geneva and are planning to redo the kitchen and change the parquet floor to tiles in one room. Also, to break down one small wall. Do we need any permits?

Thanks in advance.

There is a law dealiing with renovations, demolition & transformations of property in Geneva and it describes the type of work that needs a permit. I enclose a link here : https://www.google.ch/search?q=droit+de+renover+%C3%A0+geneve&rlz=1C1CHBD_enCH701CH701&oq=droit+de+renover+%C3%A0+geneve&aqs=chrome..69i57.7880j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=autorisation+de+renover+%C3%A0+geneve

If you think you fall into a category of work that might need a permit it is well worth you or your tradesman calling the planning department as the the form you must submit is long (10 pages! - I enclose a link below). A quick call may avoid this form filling

Form link : http://ge.ch/amenagement/media/amenagement/files/fichiers/images/documents/ac_demande_formulaire.pdf

Hope that helps

Sam

Thanks Sam. But if we don't break down the one wall and only renovate the kitchen and tiles, surely we don't require a permit for that? It's basically just taking out the current kitchen and replacing it with a new one from Ikea.

But do you really want to risk having a fine because you have not applied for a permit?

Fair point! Can someone recommend a person who can help in facilitating this permit? We can fill up the forms and have the plans but need some help with the right documents required for the permit? An approximate cost of this service will be helpful. Thanks
