Driving school and driving test

Hello Folks!

Does anyone know a good driving school/instructor in Geneva?

Does anyone have the experience with the driving test? Turned that I need to take a driving test (practical exam) in order to convert my country driving licence to the Swiss one.

Thank you in advance for the insights!

I took lessons from Mr. Rolf Halbheer (Driving lessons in English, French or German language, at Auto-ecole de Malagnou, 36, avenue Thedore-Weber, 1208 Geneva. Tel: 079 347 47 47 Fax: 022 793 64 75). He helped me a lot and gave some useful hints on the tricky situations which may come up during the test. One or two sessions must be sufficient. In case you are comfortable in driving, the test takes not more than 20 minutes; just follow the speed limits, right of way rules and round-abouts. I was also lucky in the test because the examiner was very kind to give instructions in English. Good luck.

I am waiting for contacts of an instructor who offers 'pre-test' lessons for the practical test. I have a friend who has benefited from his service. Does anyone know if the practical test can also be done in English?

Hi guys, is this mandatory? We cannot drive with international licence? I am from Europe, but not from EU, no idea if that makes any difference?

Thanks.

OK, found other threads with all the info... Now I just need to figure out if I can drive a car with French plates, even though I am not French??? Any comments on that? I will leave in Geneva, not in France.

Thanks

Is the car still registered in France to a French address? We still have a car with German plates that we have used in Geneva for over 4 years.. but simply because the registration is still on a German address.. and the German insurer doesnt mind fact that the car is based in Geneva now.

But if you mean using French plates for the drive test.. yes you can as long as the car is registered in your name. Just made an appointment for the test and got all that information about the cars that are admitted for the test.

Hope this is helpful.
