Check with Coop or Migros. They sometimes sell their banana boxes.

Might be dependant on individual stores but suggest you just go along to service clients in the store and explain you're moving and would like some cartons if they have any spare. They are generally very helpful when you do this.

At the local Migros they they told me when I needed some, to go see the guy responsible for the fruit department and he said for the banana boxes just to look below the banana display until there was one/more empty and take it. (Would not recommend to just take any without asking a first time though. Politeness is appreciated).

I believe they will save a few for you also instead of throwing them away or suggest when best to call and collect them.. this may vary again, according to the store or the shop assistant.

For the other larger cartons I was told where to go in the store to ask about those.

There they gave me quite a few straight away but had just a short time ago destroyed many others and so just told me to come back the next day if I needed more and again the best time to do this. They also suggested another store to go ask where I could get some more immediately due to higher turnover of goods there.

All sizes were available even to rather huge ones in both places and were free at the time. This was about 2/3 years ago.
