Can anyone explain me what is HLM? I am looking for an apartment, and hear the word from the agencies and tenants with no explanation of what is it. I understood that it is a sort of a subsidized houses. Does it make difference when renting such an apartment?

HLM means "Habitation à Loyer Modéré" (low rent housing).
