There's a little wool shop on the Boulevard Carl-Vogt, just after the musée d'ethnographie. The owner is a very sweet lady and she used to give lessons in the shop in the evenings. I went a couple of times and it was nice. But she unfortunately doesn't speak english... If your french's good enough, I think you should drop by and ask her directly!

I know this post is a few months old...but I was wondering if you all had gotten a little group going yet.

I'm kind of a new knitter myself, and was looking for some other knitters that would like to get together to swap patterns, tips, knit over a cup of coffee..... 

I think it would be lovely!  And also maybe someone could help me decipher some of the french patterns that I have as they make no sense to me yet!  :)

The previous knitting club is no longer active but I am willing to start another one! I am as well a knitting freak :D 

How about it, who wants to come for a knitting meet-up? Where and when?

I would prefer a daytime or early evening meet up as the last train I can catch back home is around 8 ish. And I don't think even I am up for all night knitting! ;) Somewhere near the train station or reasonably close by foot/tram.

I could do that on thursdays/fridays/saturdays/sundays. How about starbucks at the trainstation as the location? we could always change the location if we find something more cozier. 

I can't tomorrow or Friday. Usually thursdays and fridays are fine but I have another commitment. Sat or Sun would be fine or sometime next week. Location is fine - do you mean the starbucks just as you come out of the underground shopping part of the station? Not the best for finding a seat but during the day it should be fine.

It can sometimes be almost empty during the day. Should we give it a try this Saturday? Would you prefer in the morning or afternoon?

Either would be fine. But let's say the afternoon so I can have a bit of a lie-in. Say 2ish?

This thread is a bit confusing to me. It seems there are two groups:

1. Stitch and Bitch, meeting on Wednesdays at the Starbucks near the Rhone River at 7 pm 

and 2. another group, with people on this thread, meeting At the Starbucks at the station at 2 pm tomorrow (Saturday). 

Is that correct?

Yes. That's about the size of it. I can't make the Wednesday night thing (nor can some others). So we're going to try tomorrow.

3rd suggestion : I also know some people from Stitch-n-Bitch (who not only come Wednesdays, but also) meet Friday afternoons at the Starbucks at Quai des Berges .

I haven't organised any knitting sessions for this season yet.

The Wed/Friday group isn't on glocals. You'll find them on Ravelry (knitting site) though.

Just for clarification:  the group meeting today (Saturday), at 2pm is meeting at the Starbucks at Rue du Mont-Blanc 26 (within spitting distance of Cornavin train station), NOT the Starbucks at Quai des Bergues 23 (kinda near the station).  Correct?

How did it go? did you enjoy knitting in public?

Knitting in public is fun, indeed. "It opens up conversations with all kinds of people, such as immigrant women, older women who have their own crafts and like to compare. Not to mention all the young folk who find it sort of 'revolutionary' (from a feminist, guerrilla knitting, alternative lifestyle, anti-consumerism point of view). 

I am hoping to  join the Wednesday night ladies, if I am free.

Hi Karina, it's actually Quai des Berges Starbucks. Some people (or even most people) don't come at 7 o'clock sharp. I'd say people gather by 7.30 -8. Some stay till 9. or even later.

I think I'll be there this week, but I tend to decide it last minute.

an answer to the original question: There are knitting classes (or rather workshops) at a shop called "Au dé d'argent", http://audedargent.com/, Rue de la Servette 76. I don't know whether the lady speaks English and I haven't ever participated in one of the classes but I was in the shop once when there was a class on and they all seemed very happy. Anyway, the lady is very helpful and the shop is worth having a look (nice products, nice quality)!

Is there anyone who can help with a lace pattern. I seem to have made a mistake add really don't want to have to unpick the whole thing!!

I attended a class showing how to do this last year http://rosemarygoround.blogspot.ch/2008/04/lace-surgery.html but this blog post is pretty useful in showing how to do it, it's not really difficult, just fiddly!  Is it a big mistake?

It's not a huge mistake but I can't seem to get the unpicking right! Are you in Geneva? Do you think you could help me?

No way, in Genthod? Which are the odds? I just moved from there to Versoix.

So, you know the epicerie? Near the centre comunale? I think at the door there is still a paper telling about the knitting group. It is on Thursday afternoons. I always wanted to go, but either I was too big or now I have a baby and it is difficult to time his nap with it.
