Hi Martz,
I'm recently arrived and looking for some recreational hockey. Do you have any leads? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I would start with a pair of rollerblades. Put about 100 hours into them, then another 25 hours practicing with a hockey stick (on roller blades). After you could start with a low-level league. Equipment is expensive though!
