There are two public bodies which task is to advise and guide people like you. If you want to start your business in the commune of Geneva (as opposed to the other communes of the canton of Geneva), you can get in touch with la Fondetec (http://www.fondetec.ch/).

There is also the Fondation aider autrement les entreprises (FAE) (www.fae-ge.ch), for all the business in the canton.

Both can, at certain conditions, provide funding.

Genilem (http://www.genilem.ch/) is a private structure that gives support and advice (but no funding) to innovating new firms - most are not particularly technological.

Finally, you can get in touch with the Service de la promotion of the Fédération des entreprises romandes Genève (www.fer-ge.ch), an organism that groups a big part of the private businesse sin Geneva. The'll be happy to welcome you for a chat and offer you general advice.

Be aware that, as Reka has pointed out in Post 7, in Geneva you need to have officially recognized qualifications if you wish to be registered as working with or looking after children, a regulation that even a “maman du jour” has to fulfil if she wishes to work legally.

On the other hand, if she wants to register independent, she has to have on her account at least 3 clients. I would maybe check with OCAS, what she needs before she starts to invest her time and money.

Indeed i already have more than 3 guaranteed clients. I think first i need to contact the organisations which Bustan_A has proposed, discuss my business plan, show them what i have and then contact OCAS etc, what do you think?

Hi Yuliya,

Nice project! Herebelow two links to the applicable regulations (specifically for pre-schools) in Geneva:

https://www.ge.ch/legislation/rsg/f/s/rsg_J6_29.html
https://www.ge.ch/legislation/rsg/f/s/rsg_J6_29P01.html

You will find some more (too much?) information on the website of the competent administration, here: http://ge.ch/enfance-jeunesse/accueil-placement-de-mineurs/accueil-journee/ouvrir-structure

Should you need any further assistance after contacting the organisations mentioned in the above replies, feel free to contact me.

Good luck!

Hi Yuliya,

Setting up a company is the easy part... afterwards you need to organise the insurances, social contributions etc which is a bit more difficult. In my experience OCAS were terrible and FER have been decent. I've also forwarded a link to this forum to someone who told me she had the same plans just a few weeks ago.

I started a company alone 7 years ago and it's been rewarding but hard work I think I would only do it again if I have good partners.

Hi Evgeniya, thank you very much for being interested in the project, I truly apprecite that. I wish everything is that easy: you like kids - you can work with them, unfortunately down here it's not enough, you have to be qualified (have a diploma, certification/ permit to work with little children etc.)

Let's see what we can do;))
