Things to do in Geneva when it's raining..
I have friends coming over from the U.K. for their first visit to Geneva tomorrow and after checking the weather forecast I am getting a bit worried as to where to take them.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks,

Emma

Emma, I'm not sure if you have a car or not. If the answer to that is:

'Yes. I'm packing a Volvo 760 and have half a tank of 4-star', then I recommend driving towards Martigny.

Firstly there is a good art gallery - the Fondation Pierre Giannadda. The current exhibition (Balthus) can do nothing but stimulate a healthy debate or failing that a gigantic argument. But hey, that's art - right ?

Secondly, there is a spa at Vevey Les Bains - which rocks. It's sort of out-doors and inside at the same time. And the water is hot anyway, so it doesn't matter a lot if it is raining.

Lastly, there's this nice restaurant called 'Le Vache Qui Vole' (back in Martigny), where all of your differences about the pictures can be ironed out over a really good meal.

If you can do all of these things during the same day - the meal preferably last - you'll have long forgotten the rain. If, on the other hand, you don't have a car and are fixed to Geneva....better go back to the drawing board.

hello emma,

if you want to stay in geneva, you can take them :

- to visit the united nation ("palais des nations"), the red cross museum, the natural history museum

- have an excellent fondue au champagne at the bains des pâquis (preferably for the evening)

- if they are lightnings go to the top of the salève to watch them, it's pretty amazing sometimes

- you can party on saturday at the palladium, dj zebra is mixing (many more things to hear and see, have a look at the web site of the festival de la batie on www.batie.ch), the usine has also opened

- listen to some open air world music concert in vernier www.vernier-festival.ch, the entrance is free

- the knie circus is also here in plainpalais, i don't know if their shows have allready started

i'm sure you will find many things to do, mail me if you want more ideas.

ciao,

pika

ps: will, i don't know any "vevey les bains", but there is a "lavey les bains"

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! We managed to entertain ourselves, took the boat on the lake to Nyon, and ate filet de perche at a nice lakeside restaurant. The I took them on the train to Leukerbad, which was very pretty.

I definitely know where to come for more suggestions, thanks again!!
