Volunteer work

I would like to do volunteer work and I am open minded as to what ... teaching underprivelged children , helping on days out for the young, the disabeld or the eldelrly , short term foster care for refugees, perhaps helping on the Board of a charity . This should preferably be in France voisine but could also be Nyon, Versoix or Geneva

Can anyone help me understadn how I can find information on how to get involved ?

I dont know how things work in France but  if I wad in the same situation and not come aross anything otherwise, I would go to the Mairie and tell hem just what you have written here. Where you livee specially and maybe in Mairies  ot other towns that appeal nearby.

I started out to volunteer, did one which was worthwhile (connected with orgnaising the cleaning the lake) but in the end I had no time really to keep it up. CGV is interesting - different groups who are looking for short term volunteering generally contact CGV who in turn either post it on their website or do a mailing. So it's quite varied in its activities.

Good luck!

“Benevolat” means “voluntary work” while a volunteer is a “benevole”.

Dear Helen,

There is a maison de retrait very close to the Lycee in Ferney Voltaire. Here is information about their volunteers:

http://www.lecloschevalier.com/les-amis-du-clos.html

It is a lovely mission to support and a lovely place to work (I live very close by).

Down the road, very close in Geneva, is the ESCA, the English Speaking Cancer Asssociation.

You would meet wonderful people, both amongst those providing the service and the volunteers, as well as amongst the recipients of your benevolent work.
