Well if it doesn't involve any infrastructure or application integration and the budget cost estimate for the project is lower than 4 digits, Outsource it to any good indian or pakistani software house You can save upto 40-60% cost of the project depends on you and the other side, Because where i know you won’t find a good programmer in geneve. Most of them consider themself a programmer/Developer just by playing with few templates and certain codes and CMS, Even if you find, it will cost you a lot as they will charge you according to the local rates, As you said you are not going to consider any CMS in your project so it means it will be fully custom coded project from scratch. So my recommendation Outsource it!

but still the cost factor matters, you will charge according to the local rates. This will be comparatively 300% or more, the amount one will pay there. Anyways i didn't know you are an excellent php programmer.

Yes outsourcing is cheaper but not very convenient for maintenance / upgrades etc. I would rather have someone I can physically speak to!

PS: To anyone suggesting outsourcing I have experience in that one. I paid 1500GBP and the project took 8 months when I was promised 3. And the end result was disappointing which some of my IT savvy mates said they could have done themselves and the biggest drawback is explaining them exactly what you want. There will be a series of emails exchanged and still it wont be what you really need. I have Indian roots myself so if I couldnt work it in my favour in all the previous attempts I doubt anyone will.

For more basic works or if you know what you are doing then just outsource the bulk of manual work at fiver.com for just 5 quid each. They can do your backlinks and other basic stuff and you dont lose much dough.

My organisation here in Oz went down the "outsource it to India" route and it was a dismal failure.

Nor do I subscribe to the "with technology location should never be much of an issue" theory. I worked from Belgium on a system run out of the Canberra office.  Worked well for a while but the context you need to be truly effective is lost over time and distance.
